Academa Studio

Academa Studio is a browser based tool for creating mathematical animations using Manim, the animation engine originally developed by Grant Sanderson for his 3Blue1Brown videos. It wraps the Manim workflow in a web interface with an AI assistant, letting you write animation code, preview renders in real time, and iterate on your work without setting up a local Python environment or fighting with dependencies.

The core problem it addresses is the friction of getting started with Manim. Installing Python, managing packages, configuring FFmpeg, and troubleshooting render issues can take hours before you even write your first animation. Academa Studio handles all of that on the server side. You open the editor, describe what you want to animate, and the AI helps you generate the code. Then you hit render and see the result directly in your browser.

The interface is split into three panels. On the left is a chat pane where you can ask the AI for help, describe the animation you have in mind, or request changes to your code. In the center is a code editor where you write or modify Manim scripts directly. On the right is a preview window that shows the rendered output. The workflow feels closer to prototyping than production. You can experiment quickly, see what works, and refine from there.

The audience is educators, students, and content creators who want to produce explanatory math videos or visualizations without becoming experts in Manim itself. If you teach calculus and want to show how a Taylor series converges, or you are making a video about graph algorithms and need a clean visualization, Academa Studio gives you a faster path to something usable. The example projects on the site cover topics like projectile motion, eigenvectors, and polynomial approximations.

What distinguishes Academa Studio is the AI native approach. Other tools let you run Manim in the cloud, but few embed an assistant that can generate and edit code based on natural language prompts. The assistant is trained on Manim syntax and can suggest fixes when your animation breaks or help you add elements you do not know how to code by hand. That lowers the barrier for people who have a clear idea of what they want to show but lack the programming fluency to build it from scratch.

Access requires signing in through Google or GitHub, though there is also a guest mode for trying the editor without an account. Pricing details are not prominently displayed on the main studio page, so it may still be in a free beta or early access phase. The company behind it, Academa, describes itself as working on AI tools for education more broadly, with the studio being one product in a larger roadmap.
