Employbl

Employbl is a database of tech companies built for people deciding where to work and for the tools they use to decide. It keeps live records on more than 30,000 American tech companies across every sector and metro, from pre-seed startups to public companies, with funding history, tech stack, hiring status, investors and founders on each profile. The same dataset is served four ways, in the web app, through an AI chat assistant, over a REST API, and through an MCP server that plugs into Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or any other agent that speaks the protocol.

The problem it addresses is that job research is scattered and stale. Job boards are full of reposted ghost listings, funding news lives on separate sites, and figuring out what a company actually builds with means reading its job descriptions one at a time. Employbl's answer is to keep the intelligence maintained weekly and to source the parts that go stale fastest from the systems of record. The whole thing is built as a dataset first and a job board second.

Job listings sync directly from each company's applicant tracking system, Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, so a role marked open is a live, verified opening rather than a scrape that lingers after the job is filled. Funding rounds are aggregated from public sources, and tech stacks are derived from the technologies companies mention in their own job descriptions, which is a more honest signal than a self-reported logo wall. Company profiles bring those threads together, and the site publishes browsable views of companies and funding rounds alongside a changelog of what's new.

The public side of the site is browsable without a tool. There's a companies directory for finding startups, a funding rounds page that tracks tech startup rounds, and a blog with practical guides such as finding startups by funding round for free and finding tech companies by industry, tech stack and investment stage. Individual company pages bring jobs, funding and culture together on one profile. A changelog records what's new, and the funding digest also goes out as a newsletter.

The MCP server is the piece that earned it a spot in a tools directory. Once connected, an agent can pull live company, job and funding records straight into whatever workflow you already run. The site's own examples are plain-English questions such as which Series B fintechs in New York are hiring backend engineers, or what a particular company's runway and tech stack look like, answered from the live dataset rather than from a model's memory. Developers get the same data over the REST API. For a developer, the practical upshot is that a job search or market map can become a script, or a conversation, rather than an evening of tabs.

It's for job seekers targeting startups, for recruiters and founders mapping a market, and increasingly for people building agents that need grounded company data. The company side has its own product, Company Premium, for firms that want to be found, and there's a newsletter for the funding digest.

Employbl has been around long enough to have changed its pricing model. The newsletter archive records a switch from lifetime access to monthly pricing, which is where the $25 Premium plan comes from, and the pricing page title lists Employbl Premium alongside Company Premium. There's also a GitHub organisation under the company name. None of that is unusual for a bootstrapped data product, but it's useful context when judging how likely the service is to be around next year.

What sets it apart from a general job board is the focus on the company rather than the posting. You start from funding stage, stack, city or investor and work toward the roles, and everything is verified against the ATS instead of rehosted.
