About IndieTools

IndieTools is a product discovery directory for independent SaaS, apps, developer tools, and other digital products. It brings a product's public profile together with the people making it, giving visitors a place to understand what a tool does and follow its progress after launch. The directory is run by Cengiz YILMAZ and is aimed at solo founders, indie hackers, and small independent teams. About IndieTools.

Explore products and their makers

Visitors can search the catalogue, browse categories, and open individual product pages with a description, images, feature information, and a link to the maker. Founder profiles collect products and activity in one place, while the public feed carries updates, milestones, and releases. This is useful when a product's current development matters as much as its initial launch announcement. Browse the directory or read the founder feed.

Technology discovery offers another route through the catalogue. Visitors can explore products whose founders list a particular framework, database, or service in their stack. These are declared product details; coverage depends on owners supplying the information. For research, the stack can provide context before you follow through to the product's own documentation. Explore technologies.

Publish and maintain a product listing

A founder starts by signing in and submitting a live product with an accurate explanation, founder details, category, technology information, and useful images. Submissions go through manual review, and owners can edit approved listings as their products change. The published guidance focuses on live, bootstrapped digital products and excludes duplicate or misleading submissions and unusable landing pages. Read the submission requirements.

Free listings and optional promotion

The Free plan provides a permanent product page and founder profile. At our September 5, 2026 check, Premium cost $15 once for a permanent followed website link; Featured cost $29 for 30 days and included Premium, homepage and right-rail placement, a badge, and advertised campaign analytics. IndieTools labels paid visibility separately and says it does not change organic directory positions. Check current pricing.

Additional resources for founders

The directory-opportunities section helps founders research other places to submit their work, with information about listing costs and approval methods. Founders complete those external submissions themselves. A separate For sale directory helps readers find owners open to acquisition offers; IndieTools states that it does not broker transactions, hold escrow, or charge a sale commission. Commercial disclosure: IndieTools purchased Tool Index's Launch Bundle, including a sponsored article and seven days of featured placement. Our assessment covers public browsing; private account features and paid campaign results were not tested.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • A free listing remains available without a recurring listing fee
  • Product pages connect software details with founder context
  • Public updates help visitors see what makers have announced since launch
  • Technology browsing adds a useful way to explore related products
  • Paid placements are labelled separately from organic discovery

Room for improvement

  • Product descriptions and technology details depend on information supplied by founders
  • Manual review means submitting a product does not immediately publish it
  • Technology discovery is limited where listings lack stack information
  • External directory submissions must be completed by the founder
  • The For sale directory does not provide brokerage or escrow services

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is IndieTools for?
IndieTools focuses on independent founders and readers exploring their products. Its submission guidance accepts live, bootstrapped digital products such as SaaS, apps, developer tools, and courses.
Is IndieTools free?
Browsing and the permanent Free listing are available without a fee. Premium and Featured are optional paid upgrades. See the pricing summary and the vendor pricing page for the current offers.
Can founders update a published listing?
Yes. IndieTools says product owners can edit approved listings from their dashboard as descriptions, images, technology details, and other public information change.
What can I learn from founder profiles and the feed?
Founder profiles connect makers to products and their public activity. The feed contains founder-written updates, milestones, and release posts. This is useful product context, rather than an independent audit of those claims.
Does IndieTools submit my product to other directories?
No. Directory opportunities is a research resource. Founders open each destination, complete its form, and follow its review process themselves.
Can I find apps for sale on IndieTools?
Yes. Its For sale directory lists products whose owners are open to acquisition offers. IndieTools says it does not broker the deal, hold escrow, or take a cut; buyers and owners must arrange the transaction themselves.
What did Tool Index evaluate?
Our sponsored review covered public browsing, search, product pages, pricing, submission guidance, technology discovery, and the feed. Private account features, payments, campaign analytics, newsletter delivery, and acquisition transactions were not tested.

Our take

kgabeci · Sep 2026

IndieTools is a useful starting point for giving an independent product an understandable public profile and discovering what other makers are building. Its product, founder, update, and technology pages offer several ways to explore the catalogue. The free listing is a practical first step; any paid promotion should be evaluated using the results on your own website. This sponsored assessment is based on public pages and does not establish campaign returns.
